ISLAMABAD: Petrol prices in Pakistan are expected to fall this week, offering some relief to consumers amid ongoing inflation concerns. Sources close to the matter revealed that the new fuel rates will take effect from October 16, 2025, following the latest review by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).
According to industry reports, the price of petrol is likely to decrease by Rs. 6.10 per litre, while high-speed diesel (HSD) may see a minor reduction of 97 paisa per litre.
In addition, kerosene oil prices are projected to decline by Rs. 2.75 per litre, and light diesel oil (LDO) is expected to become cheaper by Rs. 1.64 per litre.
Officials from the petroleum sector have already completed the required calculations and submitted them to OGRA. The regulatory authority will forward its summary of proposed price adjustments to the Petroleum Division, which will then send it to the Ministry of Finance for final approval.
The Finance Ministry, after consulting with the Prime Minister, is expected to announce the final decision on fuel price revisions tomorrow.
If approved, the upcoming adjustment will mark another significant change in Pakistan’s fortnightly petroleum price review, directly influencing transportation costs, inflation, and overall consumer spending trends.
