ISLAMABAD, Oct 8, 2025 — Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that the Pakistan–Saudi Arabia Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement will mark a new chapter in the two nations’ longstanding partnership, enhancing cooperation in defence, trade, and economic development.
Speaking with a visiting delegation of the Saudi Shura Council led by Chairman Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-Sheikh, the Prime Minister expressed optimism that the recent pact would further cement the strategic bond between Islamabad and Riyadh.
Shehbaz Sharif extended a warm welcome to the delegation and conveyed his heartfelt wishes to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, praying for his continued health and prosperity.
Commending Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman’s leadership, the premier lauded Saudi Arabia’s remarkable transformation across economic and social sectors. He also highlighted the Kingdom’s initiatives for women’s empowerment as a model for the region.
The Saudi Shura Council Chairman described the Strategic Defence Agreement as a symbol of the deep-rooted brotherly relations between the two countries. He emphasized the importance of enhancing parliamentary cooperation and promoting institutional exchanges.
Both sides agreed to strengthen ties through regular exchange of parliamentary delegations and closer coordination on regional and international issues of shared interest.
