By Web Desk | October 11, 2025
Pakistani music icons Meesha Shafi and Arooj Aftab are setting their sights on the Grammy Awards, each submitting new projects that highlight their evolving artistry and global appeal.
Meesha Shafi’s “Khilnay Ko” enters three Grammy categories
Marking a major milestone in her musical journey, Meesha Shafi has submitted her debut solo album Khilnay Ko for consideration in three Grammy categories — Best Global Music Album, Best Global Music Performance, and Best Engineered Album (Non-Classical).
The 47-minute, 11-track record showcases Shafi’s distinct creative vision, blending soulful melodies, poetic introspection, and rich sound textures. Through emotionally charged lyrics, she invites listeners to explore themes of grief, healing, and personal transformation, positioning the album as one of her most mature works to date.
Arooj Aftab returns with “Raat Ki Rani (Khruangbin Remix)”
Meanwhile, Grammy-winning vocalist and composer Arooj Aftab has submitted her acclaimed Khruangbin remix of “Raat Ki Rani” for consideration in the Best Remixed Recording category.
Released in April, the reimagined version of the track has earned widespread praise for its dreamlike production, ethereal tones, and hypnotic flow. Critics describe it as a meditative soundscape that drifts between fantasy and melancholy — a sonic reflection of Aftab’s signature style that merges South Asian roots with global sounds.
Both artists’ submissions signal a new era for Pakistan’s music industry, as homegrown talent continues to gain recognition on the international music stage.
