KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast that the port city will continue to experience dry and hot conditions over the next 24 hours, though temperatures are expected to dip during the night.

According to the Met Office’s advisory issued on Sunday, a subtle change in Karachi’s weather pattern has begun, with winds now blowing from the northeast instead of the usual southwest direction. The shift, officials said, marks the beginning of pre-winter conditions in the city.

Cooler Nights Signal Start of Pre-Winter Weather

Meteorologists reported that Karachi’s minimum temperature was recorded at 24.3°C, while daytime highs are expected to reach around 35°C. The humidity level stood at approximately 78%, contributing to a slightly muggy feel during the day despite the breeze.

The PMD added that Karachi has been experiencing cooler evenings over the past few days — a trend expected to continue as the city transitions toward the late-autumn phase.

No Rain Expected in October or November

Weather experts have ruled out any significant rainfall for Karachi in the coming weeks. The PMD clarified that October and November generally remain dry months, and there are currently no signs of downpours in the city’s forecast models.

However, officials reassured that temperatures will gradually fall during nighttime, providing some relief from the daytime heat.

Earlier Rainfall Offered Temporary Respite

Earlier this month, on October 6, several parts of Karachi — including Buffer Zone, Baldia Town, North Karachi, and Nazimabad — received moderate to heavy rain, briefly transforming the weather into a pleasant and breezy spell.

The downpour had provided temporary relief from the city’s persistent heat, and many residents took to the streets and social media to celebrate the change.

Outlook: Dry Days, Cooler Nights Ahead

With the shift in wind direction and humidity levels stabilizing, Karachiites can expect dry days and cool nights in the coming weeks. Meteorologists predict that as northeasterly winds strengthen, the city will gradually move closer to its winter weather cycle.
