CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz Inaugurates Faisalabad’s First Electric Bus Service
Faisalabad – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Monday launched the city’s first-ever electric bus service, marking a major step toward modern and eco-friendly public transport in the province. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Maryam Nawaz said the initiative represents the government’s commitment to affordable, sustainable, and green transport solutions for the people of Punjab. She added that the project not only promotes environmental protection but also makes urban travel easier and cheaper for commuters. Details of the Service In the first phase, 30 electric buses will begin operations across seven major routes in Faisalabad. Passengers will be able to travel at an affordable fare of just Rs. 20, making the service accessible to all segments of society. Future Plans: Metro Bus for Faisalabad The Chief Minister also revealed that Faisalabad will soon get a state-of-the-art Metro Bus project, which is set to be completed later this year. She said the project will provide modern and comfortable travel options, similar to those already operating in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan. A Step Towards Green Punjab Maryam Nawaz emphasized that the electric bus project is part of the provincial government’s larger green initiative to reduce pollution, encourage clean energy, and upgrade Punjab’s transport system to international standards. “Faisalabad is entering a new era of public transport,” she said, stressing the government’s resolve to create a modern, eco-friendly, and people-friendly Punjab.
